My maternal grandmother was very short, but I have a picture where I was standing with her when I was 8, and she looks sooooo tall. But yeah, the receiving line was torture. Really, bridesmaids and ushers should never have been required to stand there because it's just awkward. They usually don't know anybody and trying to make small talk while people are holding up the line talking to the bride's parents was always difficult. Besides, I hate a wimpy handshake.
